Closing on a property doesn’t mean closing the relationship you’ve developed with your clients. An important part of a closing comes in the aftermath, when you have an opportunity to receive feedback from the client about their experience. Here are 5 tips for maintaining a relationship after a real estate deal has been closed:

1. Show your client you appreciate them. It’s the small personal touches that make the difference. Send them a thank you note; they will appreciate that you took the time to personally thank them for their business.

2. Ask for feedback about the transaction. Contact the client a week or so after closing and request they leave an online review about their experience. With the transaction fresh in their minds they are more likely to give a thorough review.

3. Ask for referrals. Referrals are vital to any business; if the customer was happy with their transaction they will be more likely to refer others to you. Chances are a client knows someone who can use your company’s services.

4. Keep in touch after the transaction is closed. A monthly newsletter is a great way to stay in touch with clients; if they need your services in the future they won’t need to go far to find your information.

5. Encourage the client to connect on social media. There are many great resources to network online and build client relationships, so share your social media handles and ask clients to follow you. If they have a business or public profile, you can take the first step by following them as well.
